- Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, and have fun choosing different kinds
- Do not eat much fat, added sugar, and salt

U.S. dietary guidelines describe a healthy diet as one that has:
• Many fruits and vegetables--3-5 servings a day of vegetables and 2-4 servings of fruits
• Plenty of whole grain bread, cereal, and pasta--6-11 servings a day
• Dairy products such as milk, cheese, and yogurt, using fat-free or low-fat when possible--2-3 servings a day
• Lean meats, poultry, fish, beans, eggs, and nuts--2-3 servings a day
• Very little saturated fat, transfat, cholesterol, salt (sodium), and sugar

Try these quick and easy ways to add fruits and vegetables to your diet!
• Add fruit to your breakfast cereal or oatmeal (not just bananas--try apples, grapes, berries, peaches, or mandarin oranges)
• Snack on baby carrots or dried fruit at work instead of candy
• Add fruits and vegetables from home to your take-out dinner
• Microwave a vegetable to add to your dinner
• Eat some fruit for dessert
